Roulette is a game of chance that involves a spinning wheel and a ball that ends up in one of the slots. The game can be very profitable if you know what bet types to place. Beginners should start with outside bets, which are broader wagers covering groups of numbers like red or black, odd or even.
Origin
Roulette is a game that involves a revolving roulette wheel into which players place chips to bet on the outcome of the spin. The ball is spun around the wheel until it comes to rest in one of the 38 (or 37 on modern European/Latin American tables) compartments, which are numbered 1 through 36. People bet on whether the number will be odd or even, red or black, and so forth.
While the origin of roulette is not well-known, it is generally believed to have emerged in 18th century France. French mathematician Blaise Pascal is sometimes credited with creating an early version of the roulette wheel during his attempts to create a perpetual motion machine. However, similar games with spinning wheels had been in existence before this time, including portique, hoca, basseette, and roly poly.
